This site is a repository for some of the data collected while researching Haggers (and related families) of Therfield, Hertfordshire. The aim is to assist others with Therfield roots.
So far, the emphasis has been on transcribing and indexing the census. This work was begun by Peter Hagger, as a side shoot of the Hagger One Name Study (of which Peter is coordinator), but it is now a collaborative effort. If you think you can make a contribution, please email me.
To view the indexes and transcripts, follow the links in the panel on the left. Corrections to the transcripts will be most welcome, as will news of any omissions, or links that don't work.
The main source for Therfield research is Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies (HALS), the custodian of much unique and interesting material relating to the village. With HALS permission, more of this material will be transcribed here in due course. Hertfordshire Names Online is a useful facility which allows online searching of several HALS indexes. HALS catalogue can also be searched via The National Archives.
