You haved accessed a 'no-frames' version of this site.  In the absence of a 'menu frame', links to all pages are listed below.  I have no way of knowing whether this alternative no-frames version of the site is useful or used.  If you find it, and use a browser which does not support frames, please email and tell me.  If nothing else, it will encourage me to maintain this alternative version.

This site is a repository for some of the data collected while researching Haggers (and related families) of Therfield, Hertfordshire.  The aim is to assist others with Therfield roots.

So far, the emphasis has been on transcribing and indexing the census.  This work was begun by Peter Hagger, as a side shoot of the Hagger One Name Study (of which Peter is coordinator), but it is now a collaborative effort.  If you think you can make a contribution, please email me.

To view the indexes and transcripts, follow the links below, but be warned that some pages are quite large (up to 185KB).  Corrections to the transcripts will be most welcome, as will news of any omissions, or links that don't work.

The main source for Therfield research is Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies (HALS), Hertford, Hertfordshire, the custodians of much unique and interesting material relating to the village. With HALS permission, more of this material will be transcribed here in due course.  See www.hertsdirect.org/libsleisure/heritage1/HALS/ for details of opening hours, services available, etc.  Details of HALS holdings can be found via a search at the excellent Access to Archives site at http://www.a2a.org.uk/.
