Letter from Cappoquin, 1925 |
(a
priceless little historical gem) |
The letter below was plainly sent to Michael Condon
(in New York, USA) in response to one from him to the Catholic
church at his Irish birthplace, Cappoquin, County Waterford. The
letter's contents, especially the names of Michael's parents, prove
conclusively that he was the Michael who left
Cappoquin around 1867 (with wife Alice, and son Patrick) for Jersey, in
the Channel Islands, before later departing for the New World. |
The
letter has been handed down in the American branch of the family, and
the scanned copy was supplied by Michael Condon's
great-granddaughter, Cathy Piper. |
