Notes: Francis STUART was the second of five known children of Robert
STUART (a solicitor) & Annie CLARK, who married at Wigan in 1879. After
Robert STUART died in 1898, Annie and their children moved in with her widowed
mother, Isabella CLARK, and brother, William, at Cranbury Lodge, Ashton in Makerfield,
Lancashire. The CLARKs were wealthy local mine owners. In 1924,
when Francis STUART's wife brought their daughter to England, they went to stay
at Cranbury Lodge, by then the home of William CLARK (Isabella CLARK had died
the year before).
At some stage of his life, Francis STUART became a Clerk in Holy Orders, which
probably means a Church of England minister. Where he trained, and where
he ministered, is a complete mystery, at present.

The groom was a bachelor, occupation "Shipping", father Robert STUART deceased, and the bride was a spinster, occupation "Nurse", father not recorded.
