Notes: William and Harriet WITT, and daughter Alice, left England for
Van Dieman's Land on board the 'Royal George' on 7 Oct 1836 (their 3rd wedding
anniversary). They arrived in Hobart on Sunday 7 Feb 1837. William WITT wrote
"An Account of His Life", a
fascinating short autobiography, which includes a journal of his family's long
voyage down under.
William was named as one of the beneficiaries of his father William WITT's will in 1856.
