[370] Source: Copy of GRO death certificate. See William's will. William's death was recorded in 'The Times' newspaper as follows, "On the 19th inst., at Winchmore Hill, in the 80th year of his age, deeply regretted, William Witt, Esq., after a short but painful illness."

[10715] Source: Pallot's Marriage Index, held by the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies, Canterbury, Kent. Information obtained by Verity Baylis. The original registers of Christchurch Greyfriars have been lost, but fortunately not before Mr. Pallot began his Index. An actual marriage date was not recorded, so we only know the year, and that both William and Alice were both already widowed.
[11003] Source: Copy of GRO marriage certificate... if the bride was a widow, she should have been recorded with her previous husband's surname... but she has the same surname as her father. .. so either she gave her maiden name, or her previous husband was also a SHARPE!
