Occupation
1921 Engineer's Fitter (marriage to Florence Ellen BROCKTON)
[9908]
Source: Baptism register (image online at www.ancestry.co.uk). Birth
address copied from 1891 census data.
Approximate year of birth calculated from age at marriage (36 in 1921), which
appears to be an overestimate by 3 years. This was presumably deliberate,
due to the large age difference between bride (who gave her age correctly) and
groom.
[9909] Source: Baptism register (image online at www.ancestry.co.uk). Also baptised on the same day were Richard's younger siblings, William (born 27 Dec 1890) and Jane (27 Sep 1893). Parents were Richard (a coal porter) & Sarah BEAUCHAMP, of 1 Tyssen Street (Dalston).
[9910] Source: Online GRO deaths index at FreeBMD.org.uk,.... "Jun 1929, Richard BEAUCHAMP, 40, Hackney, 1b 483".
[11761] Source: Copy of GRO marriage certificate. The groom was 36 (actually only 33) and single, and his father was Richard BEAUCHAMP, deceased, a coal porter. Although Florence Ellen called herself BROCKTON, she apparently never married William BROCKTON, and her real surname was still COBB. It cannot be coincidence that her first husband, Alfred James COBB, had died earlier in 1921, thereby freeing Florence to legally marry Richard BEAUCHAMP.

[645] Notes: In the Therfield Rector's Lists of Villagers 1803-7, Edward HAGGER had 4 children in 1803, and 5 in 1804 (after the birth Henry) so he must have had 6 altogether (Martha had died as an infant). Hence this additional mystery child. It is possible that this child may have been born before the marriage of Edward HAGGER and Sarah REYNOLDS, and may never have been baptised. We shall probably never know ......

[5750] Notes: The baptism dates for John and his brother William are most confusing. Both were baptised privately and then received into the church in the same year - 1798 - but on four different dates. William was baptised (8 Apr) about four weeks before John (6 May), but John (27 May) was received into the church three days earlier than William (30 May). And then John was buried on the same day that William was received into the church (30 May). Can anyone conjure up a scenario to explain this unlikely train of events...?
