[10629] Source: Online International Genealogical Index (IGI) at www.familysearch.org, which records that Sarah was the daughter of Ralph & Sarah POPE. On the "Pedigree of the Family of Young, Isle of Wight", found at https: //memory.loc.gov/service/gdc/scd0001/2007/20070619072pe/20070619072pe.pdf, Sarah POPE is shown as the daughter of Richard POPE & Sarah TIPPS. No birth/baptism date is recorded for Sarah junior, nor a marriage date for her parents, but the Pedigree was compiled in 1900, when genealogy was much more difficult than it is today. The Pedigree appears to be in error. Sarah TIP(P)S actually married Ralph POPE, brother of the aforementioned Richard, on 18 May 1733, at Northwood, Isle of Wight. So it must have been Ralph POPE's daughter, Sarah, who married Samuel SILLS.

[10631] Source: Parish register image, online at Ancestry.co.uk, which records Sarah SILLS as, "of this Town Widow of the late Mr Samuel SILLS of this Town Gentleman". One of witnesses at the interment was Sarah's son, John SILLS.
[11843] Notes: It is assumed that Samuel and Sarah married somewhere in North America. If they had married in England, then Samuel's brother, Jonathan, would probably have met Sarah, but he states in his will that he regrets never having seen or known Samuel's wife or children. It is, of course, possible that Samuel & Sarah married in England shortly before departing together for a North American adventure, and without time for Sarah to meet the rest of the Sills family.

Notes: The names RANNS and RANDS appear to be interchangeable. At
his marriage to Elizabeth RUDDOCK, Robert's surname was spelt RANNS, as it was
at the baptisms of most of his children. But RANDS seems to have become
the usual spelling by the time of the 1851 census, so I have adopted RANDS as
being the 'standard' spelling on the tree. Further investigation of this
family may cause a change of mind, and I might decide to call them RANNS!
