In the online GRO births index at FreeBMD.org.uk, must be..... "Dec 1889, Christopher
Samuel SWEETAPPLE, Mile End, 1c 484".
Christopher Samuel was the son of Joseph SWEETAPPLE & Pamela VINCENT, who married
in 1873 in St George in the East Registration District, Middlesex. His
surname was SWEETAPPLE in the 1891, 1901 and 1911 census, but had become SWEET
by the time of his first marriage in 1914. Due to the timimg, just before
World War One, the name change may have been because SWEETAPPLE sounded German
(or Jewish, or both). But, at present (2015), there is no evidence that
this SWEETAPPLE line had German (or Jewish) roots. Joseph SWEETAPPLE was
born in 1845 at West Harnham, in rural Wiltshire, which would have been a most
unlikely destination for 18th or 19th century German settlers.

"SWEET Christopher Samuel of 15 Burstock Road London S.W.15 died 21 April 1966
at St. Johns Hospital Battersea London Administration (with Will) London 3 June
to Florence Kathleen Sweet widow. Effects £167."

Source: Online GRO marriages index at FreeBMD.org.uk..... "Sep 1943, Christopher
S SWEET & Florence K COBB or ROOKE, Fulham, 1a 654". As is evident from
her dual surnames, the bride had been married before. What is not so obvious
is that the groom had also been married before. A search of the GRO indexes
reveals that Florence Kathleen COBB was his third wife, and that he had one child
by each of his first two wives (but none with Florence).....
First marriage..... "Dec 1914, Christopher S SWEET & Alice N CARR, Kensington,

Child by second marriage..... "Jun 1928, Samuel J SWEET, MOSS, Fulham, 1a 360"

Notes: Edward Watson is a bit of a mystery. He is reputed to have died
soon after the birth of his daughter Evelyn (my grandmother), causing Evelyn
to be brought up by an aunt and uncle at Llanrwst, North Wales. Nothing is known
about Edward, except that he was a butler by trade.
Occupation
1892 Valet [domestic] (birth of daughter Evelyn)
1919 Butler [deceased] (marriage of daughter Evelyn, who - presumably mistakenly(?)
- gave his name as John WATSON)
